Neuronline Community hosts a growing stream of online discussions and live events. All SfN members have access to Community discussions, can post replies, and start new topics. There are Community blogs and forums for every career stage, professional development, career advice, outreach, general discussion, and more. Use the email address and password you used to join SfN; no need for separate registration or login!

Before posting, please read the Community Guidelines and review the illustrated directions below or refer to How to Use Neuronline.

Welcome to the Neuroscience 2018 Forum

To login and set up your preferences:

  1. Click on the yellow “Login” button in the top right corner.

  2. Log in with the same username and password you use for sfn.org.

  3. Click on the colored circle with your initial in the top right corner. Click on “Profile”, then “Preferences” to edit your profile and upload a photo. Click the yellow “Save Changes” button at the bottom of the page.


To post a reply to a topic:

  1. Click the “Reply” button in the bottom right corner beneath a post.

  2. Type in your text and click the yellow “Reply” button to publish your post. A preview box will appear to the right of your post that allows you to view the post with formatting, images, and links.


To start a new topic:

  1. At the top right of each page in the forum is a + New Topic button. Click this to create a new forum post.

  2. Type a title for your topic. Refer to the similar topics popup to ensure you aren’t repeating a topic already in the forum.

  3. Select a Category from the drop-down. (This will auto populate if you start a new topic while inside a Category.)

  4. Click the yellow Create Topic button to publish your post.


Using the Action Tool Bar:

  1. Next to the reply button at the bottom of each post is an ellipsis icon ().

  2. Clicking this will reveal the action icons which allow you to Like, Share, Flag, or Bookmark a post.


Following a forum:

  1. On to the forum homepage, click the circle in the top right corner.
  2. Select one of the first two options, “Watching” or “Tracking” to receive notifications for new posts.
