About Shanti F. Frausto, PhD: Dr. Frausto is a Senior Medical Science Liaison at Lundbeck Pharmaceuticals, a company focused on finding solutions for CNS disorders. He was previously employed at Ferring Pharmaceuticals as a Manager, Medical Science Liaison. As a formally trained neuroscientist, Dr. Frausto has worked in a variety of roles where he has leveraged his scientific training, ranging from medical affairs, healthcare consulting, biomedical research, and higher education. Most recently as a medical affairs professional within the pharmaceutical industry, he provides scientific, medical, and clinical support to Health Care Professionals with the hopes of helping patients live healthier lives.

As a first-generation college student and SfN Neuroscience Scholars Program Alum, Dr. Frausto’s passion lies in providing underrepresented minorities opportunities in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields to increase diversity within the STEM pipeline. In particular he is interested in bringing awareness to careers outside of the academy. He has been an active member of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity, a multicultural service/social fraternity, for over 20 years and previously served as a National Board Member. He has mentored students through various outreach programs, including HSF’s Mentor Match, Second Year Success, and First Year Transition Programs. He has also volunteered for various SfN NSP program initiatives and continues to mentor colleagues, students, and postdocs on how to transition and break into careers away from the bench.

Dr. Frausto holds a PhD in Neuroscience from Northwestern University and completed his Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania/Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). His academic and scientific expertise include identifying novel drug targets and therapeutics for treating central nervous system (CNS) disorders including epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Disease.
