Michael Oberdorfer
Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM) is a rare condition characterized by weakness and loss of muscle tone and reflexes in the limbs. According to the CDC there are currently 252 cases in 27 states. Most AFM cases occur in children between the ages of two and eight with a seasonal onset between August and October. Most of those affected recover. Researchers suspect the condition is caused by an enterovirus, but in many cases no pathogen has been detected. Any thoughts?
