Michael Oberdorfer Posted October 3, 2017 Share Posted October 3, 2017 Yesterday the 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Robash and Michael W. Young "for their discoveries of molecular mechanisms controlling the circadian rhythm." This work originated with the discovery of genes in fruit flies controlling circadian rhythms. Their work has lead to a clearer understanding of the function of rhythms in all living systems. It has impacted significantly on our understanding of neural function.
