Michael Oberdorfer
The Washington Post reports that a large study has shown that brain-training games, such as Lumosity, which are advertised as a means to improve cognitive performance, “are not particularly good at training brains and appear to have no more effect on healthy brains than video games.” The story is based on a paper published this week in The Journal of Neuroscience. The “significance statement” of the paper states: "We found no evidence for relative benefits of cognitive training with respect to changes in decision-making behavior or brain response, or for cognitive task performance beyond those specifically trained."
