Charise White
I was thinking of starting a journal club for our online community. We could cover one paper a month: announcing it at the beginning of the month, posting comments and questions throughout the month, and maybe closing the month with a live, online discussion. Fellow NeurOnliners, what do you think?
ruiping_xia
Love the idea and suggestion! Thank you! How do we determine the topics which will be appropriate for all, since the areas of research can be enormously wide? it may need some sub-thematic arrangements. Just a thought dr… Xia
Karina Alvina
Agree! since we come from very different fields, maybe we can cover a paper from our area but more general impact/interest? karina
Charise White
Great feedback. Our coming from many different specialities presents some difficulties but affords us a tremendous opportunity to learn. I was thinking that people could suggest papers in the month preceding the journal club month. I would compile the list and allow people to vote. Here is my time-line brainstorming. Now until Apr. 20–receive paper suggestions Apr. 21–candidate papers announced Apr. 23 until Apr. 30–Neuronline votes May. 1–selected paper announced, start of the journal club month May 1 until May 31–feedback posts with comments, thoughts, questions, etc. May. 31–live online discussion day What do you think?
