But then other labs said they couldn't take me because they needed someone to start sooner. I also realized what I thought was "one year" before graduation was actually 2 years. Melissa Tapia Posted February 27, 2020 Share Posted February 27, 2020 I applied to post-doc positions 10 months before my scheduled defense date. Most of the PIs were willing to work with my schedule in regards to starting dates. Also I know for training grant programs, there is usually an early application date due to funding cycles.
