Michael Oberdorfer
As of this writing, Congress is trying to cobble together legislation aimed at preventing a government shutdown. In an interview in Stat, Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, describes the impact of a government shutdown on NIH. A shutdown could impact adversely on much of the government’s biomedical research enterprise. Tick tock. Your thoughts?
J.Short
It floors me that this could happen. I am worried for my friends who are currently in research and it is terrible. The effects of the shutdown from 2013 was not only felt immediately but for a time afterwards. You would think they would have learned from last time.
