Looking for 1-3 female roommates or room 9 or 10th to 15th Nov

#1

Hi, I am a female postdoc from Northwestern University Chicago USA. I am planning to attend a workshop on the 10th so I will arive at the 9th or 10th and stay until the 15th. I would like to keep the costs low so I would like to share a room with up to 3 others depending on the room rate. I have actually done 2 reservations and I am not sure what would have the most interest. One cheaper where I stayed for a previous SfN and 1 conference hotel. I could cancel/adjust depending on interest or if you have an inexpensive room to share.

The first option is the Old Colony Inn in Alexandria, the room rate is a total of 148/night (37-74$/person/night) and includes breakfast. It is close to the Reagan Airport and has a free shuttle service to a Metro stop that runs early morning to 8pm (cab may be 10$).

The second option is the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill, 400 New Jersey Avenue NW, Washington, DC. The room rate with taxes is approx 412/night with 4 person occupancy (104/person). It does not include breakfast. It is part of the SfN shuttle service. But to give you an idea it is about 20 min to the convention center with public transportation.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Sandra,

I’m from Stony Brook University and I’m looking for a roommate from the 11th to 15th. It’s not exactly the 10th but if you’re still interested let me know.

Hi Tiffany,

if we go to the cheaper hotel I think I could do one night on my own if I
have to, so that should be ok. I would still look for at least one more
person if someone is interested. Let me know if that is fine with you/you
are still interested.

Hi Alicia,

I would prefer to have roommates that share all or at least 4 of the
nights. If I find at lest one or two people that can and you can’t find
somebody else we could talk about if if the others are ok with that.

Best,

Sandra

That sounds good. If you could let me know when you decide that would be
great.

Thanks,
Alicia

Hi! My name is Malaney. I’m a PhD student at the University of Minnesota. I would be interested in sharing the room located on Capitol Hill. The Old Colony Inn is too far from the convention center for me. I plan to arrive on the 10th and leave the 14th. Let me know if this could work for you.

Thanks!

Malaney

Hi Malaney,

it could potentially work if we find one or two more roommates that would
help cover at least the later 4 days.

Thanks,

Sandra

#10

Ok will get back to you then Alicia. Hope to have this sorted out sooner
than later.

#11

Okay Sandra.

I took a look at my options and I would also be willing to share the further / cheaper hotel with you and Alicia.

Best,
Malaney

Hi Malaney,

great! I have done this one before, it may not be as convenient as the
Hyatt but found it not too bad as the Metro goes right to the center. I
have asked the Old Colony in before booking that we can split the bill, but
I just send them an email to ensure that we won’t have a hassle with the
different dates.

Best,

Sandra

Okay, yeah that can work for me if the Metro goes right to the center. Could you give me more information on the public transportation? Is it a hotel shuttle that takes you to the yellow line?

Thanks!
Malaney

#14

Hi Malaney,

yes, the free hotel shuttle drops off at the yellow line which then goes to
the center (website says the shuttle runs 7 am to 9 pm, distance to the
station is 1 mile). You can buy a SmarTrip card either at the station or
order per mail (and you can use it for future DC/Baltimore area trips; I
turn the receipts in for the fares) and charge them for money to drive off
or day passes. I had it calculate the fare which would be 3.10/trip.
Some basic info is listed here:

#15

That sounds perfect! Have we confirmed the room yet? How many beds?

#16

Yes I booked the room already. It has 2 beds.

#17

Okay great. How much will I owe exactly and how can I confirm my stay?

Best,
Malaney

#18

Hi Malaney,

your share would be 298 $ for the 4 nights or lower, have to confirm with
Alicia.

Please write me an email to the following address to confirm
