pizbicki
I am so thrilled that the NIH is promoting the importance of music and medicine. If you have any interest in this topic, here are a few links: https://www.nih.gov/sound-health/music-mind-event (Videos of the lectures are each event.) http://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2017/06/02/530879198/the-soprano-and-the-scientist-a-conversation-about-music-and-medicine (Short NPR interview.) aabdullah
Very interesting partnership! It looks like there are more events coming up soon. One of my favorite collections on this topic is Musicophilia by the late Oliver Sacks that explores how music affects the human brain. You can read an excerpt of the preface and first few chapters on Google Books.
pizbicki
I hope that the increasing events will eventually lead to increased funding in this realm! It has definitely been a struggle for many labs in the U.S. to secure funding for this type of research. I have read Musicophilia! It is a great read! Daniel Levitin’s “This is Your Brain on Music” is also wonderful. I highly recommend it.
